Simulation Study Helps Lightweight design of Stationary Hydraulic Crusher

Keywords: Heavy Machinery, Lightweight, CAE, Vibration, Shock, Impact, Modal Analysis, Dymanic Stress, Point Mobility

The various stationary hydraulic crushers are widely used in quarrying, mining operations, waste material processing, commercial/industrial/municipal construction, and bridge/ tunnel construction, etc. A typical stationary hydraulic crusher is mainly composed of a base with its slewing gear, a boom, an arm, a connecting rod, a rocker, a hydraulic hammer, and attached driving cylinders.

Under the premise of ensuring the functions of the equipment, the lightweight of the entire structure is a consensus in the field of heavy machinery. The solutions developed on the basis of simulation analysis enable the design of new lightweight components with optimized properties, and benefits are obtained over the whole life expectancy of the structure in terms of reduced maximum dynamic stress, more even stress distribution, and improved performance with integrated functionalities.

According to the design requirements and targets, special care has been paid to modal analysis, shock/vibration motion parameter optimization, and dynamic stress analysis for the full structure of the crusher excited by its maximum crushing force and operation frequency as well.

The analysis results, compared with benchmark design, indicates that modified structure of the crusher is less than the original one by 14.8% in weight, makes structure more reasonable and dynamic behavior
